Luxury Metal Chessmen
A modern variation on the classic chess sets of the past. These contemporary chessmen showcase the twinning of metal & leather to stunning effect. Winner of the converted Design Centre award in 1977 for the two sets created for HM The Queen’s Silver Jubilee.
The King’s playing pieces; the Rook and Knight are embossed with his crown (the Bishops being divine without allegiance to Crown only to God) and of course, there are a pair of extra Queens as well. The set is hand inlaid throughout in our Dauphin calf leather. The King stands 57.33 mm / 2.25″ and suits a chessboard chequer size of 45 mm / 1.77″.
It's often challenging when designing a house to incorporate traditional games like chess; our Metal Chessmen are a perfect alternative, marrying old and new together.
Award Winning Luxury Metal Chessmen
This beautiful design won Geoffrey Parker the converted Design Centre award in 1977 for the two sets created for HM The Queen's Silver Jubilee.
The original design featured London hallmarked Sterling silver with 3 microns of gold leaf plating. Although a stunning design, this wasn't something which was readily available to the public due to it's price tag. Should you wish to order the original design, please get in touch.
Handmade to order these beautiful chess pieces will make a game of chess even more enjoyable.
