Backgammon Accessories - an introduction
As with all our games, components are available for all. However, Backgammon in particular offers-up many different requirements and many customers have existing boards or have lost pieces over the years which need replacing. In this section of the web-site, we offer all our Backgammon accessories, made to order in the case of the leather items and generally ex-stock for items like dice etc.
Backgammon stones/checkers
Championship Class
The pièce de résistance of our Backgammon range - after consultation in the Seventies with whom many regard as the "guru" of Backgammon, then World Champion, Paul Magriel, we designed our famous handmade weighted leather stones/checkers - extremely fast to play with and a highly tactile gaming piece painstakingly built on a papier-mâché former after applying layer upon layer of board and glue. A hole is then punched through the centre and a lead weight inserted for the ideal playing weight............then the hard bit..........our master craftsmen take two discs of leather and apply these to top and bottom and then take a strip of leather which they meticulously pare down the edges to almost nothing using a ancient leather-worker technique (sadly dying out these days) of fine-edging with a special hand knife. Then the edges are burnished to almost make the joins "disappear". This task, repeated thirty times is a labour of love as well as a master craft, which takes almost as long as the whole board takes to manufacture. We recommend that Magnolia stones/checkers are not ordered, as these not only do not make as well as we would like (the joins have a tendency to go black when cut and therefore are difficult to make "invisible") but also with constant handling, they do tend to soil more readily than the other colours - therefore we usually will take the third colour of the board as the second set of stones. These can be made plain or we can emboss a simple circle in gold or silver if required?

Dice cups - an introduction
After observing many a Backgammon clubs' boards with limp crushed dice cups after "heated" games filled with frustration and passion, we set about designing our now famous uncrushable dice cup following consultation with a former European Champion.
Hand-bound and fine-edged in leather, a "trip" is installed within the top lip of the cup to prevent unfair play and the inside is lined with sumptuous suede to deaden noise. There are three sizes of round and one lozenge shaped (crushable) cup available.
All cups can be made in any of our Dauphin calf leathers and often we trim the bases of the cups to reflect the point colours on our boards while leaving the outers to match the cases or fields. It is not recommended that Magnolia colour is used on the outer of the cup, as this soils more easily than other colours.
Available in the following sizes:
# Bspk-RDC89 Round, uncrushable, with trips
Size 60 dia x 115 mm (2.35 dia" x 4.53") Net wt 73gms (0.18 lbs)
# Bspk-RDC86 Round, uncrushable, with trips
Size 60 dia x 92 mm (2.35" dia x 3.63") Net wt 81gms (0.16 lbs)
# Bspk-RDC83 Round, uncrushable, with trips
Size 38 dia x 77 mm (1.5" dia x 3") Net wt 41gms (0.09 lbs)
# Bspk-LDC85 Lozenge, crushable, with trips
Size 86 x 52 x 40 mm (3.385" x 2.04" x 1.57") Net wt 35gms (0.077 lbs)

Dice - an introduction
The most important piece of equipment for the avid player - however, not may of those outside the professional game, appreciate that on standard dice, there is a bias. Due to the "spots" being drilled or sometimes printed the lightest side will over many throws have a tendency to tumble to the top. To a keen player, any bias is NOT acceptable and therefore they demand a truly balanced die - our precision dice are just that, each "spot" has been drilled out and then replaced with the exactly the same weight making all sides equal in weight. Then the cubes are "ball" cornered to allow the roll to be as perfect as possible - coupled with our built in "trips" within our dice cups, each throw is as true as it should be. We offer two designs of Precision Dice, opaque and translucent (allowing one to check behind each "spot" to see if any loading may have been made).
For those who do not require such professional specification, we offer two sizes of standard spot dice as well.
